How to talk to your autistic child about surgery

Step 1)
Determine what the surgery will be.

Step 2)
Determine when the surgery will be.

Step 3)
Have a panic attack.

Step 4)
Sit your child down. Open mouth. Close mouth. Walk away.

Step 5)
Sit your child down again. Open mouth. Close mouth. Repeat several times until your (undoubtedly very blunt) child asks you why you look like a fish.

Step 6)
Throw in the towel. Make the doctor do it.
